Chong Shi

Chong Shi, born in 1988, now works and lives in Shanghai after graduated from Royal College of Art with a master's degree. He is currently a teacher of Jewellery Metalworking Studio of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University, a Co-founder of YDMD Art Studio, a member of Metal Art Committee of China Arts and Crafts Association, an experts in the Expert Library of Talent Centre of China Ministry of Culture and Tourism, an invited academic consultant and interviewer in the Beijing office of Sheffield Hallam University, an art consultant of Bai Rui Art Space, a visiting professor of the School of Fashion Design, Wuhan Institute of Design and Engineering.

The YDMD team led by Shi has won the British Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Association Awards three times(Commendation Award in 2012, Silver Award in 2013, Bronze Award in 2021). Their works have been collected by Qingdao Art Museum, Royal Academy of Arts and other institutions and private collections. In 2020, He wrote "Material and Creation Wisdom" as the first author, and the book was published by Chemical Industry Press. There are also many articles were published by China Gems, Art and Design, Shanghai Art & Crafts and other magazines.

Shi has given lectures and workshops in 18 institutions in China and the UK, including Central Academy of Fine Arts; China Academy of Fine Arts; Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University; Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts; Nanjing Art Institute; Sheffield Hallam University; Edinburgh College of Art. He has also participated in more than 40 exhibitions at home and abroad such as "Condensing Light & Overflowing Colour"-2022 Qingdao International Glass Medium Art Exhibition, "Integration: Ancient & Modern"-China International Contemporary Metal Art Exhibition, "Metal Narrative"-International Metal Art Exhibition, Hubei International Contemporary Arts Invitation Exhibition, "Three Paths"-Academic Nomination Exhibition of China's Contemporary Crafts.
